In the year 881 Vikings raided Maastricht, Aachen, Lige and Tongeren following the rivers Maas, Jeker and Rhein. The exhibition starts with an introduction of the home counties of the Vikings. The harsh landscape is shown on a large screen. Following a blue line on the floor, symbolising the rivers, the visitor hears the sound of the river while seeing original objects found in the river or on the river-bench, witnessing the historical writings of the time about the viking raids. The space is kept open with a black metal frame from which the information hangs, text and symbols are printed on textile referring to the sails of the viking ships. At the end early medieval church music empathises the history of the end of the raids through the christening of the nordic people. In co-work with Werkmannen.
